Home Exchange housekeeping issues
Most home exchangers are prepared to overlook minor differences in housekeeping standards (after all, homes are a place to relax, kick off your shoes and enjoy life. Homes simply are not all up to five star hotel standards). We have received feedback twice in 10 years regarding misrepresentation of quality of home and amenities. It is definitely disappointing to arrive at a home that hasn't been cleaned. Many times issues of housekeeping standards can be addresses politely in initial contacts with your exchange partner. We let our partners know how our house will be cleaned and what to expect for amenities and cleanliness. My absolutely pet peeve: We leave sufficient toilet paper and facial tissues for our partners. Enough to last way beyond their departure. We appreciate the same when traveling. More than once there was no toilet paper left in the home. We now share what we are leaving in the
way of toilet paper, fancial tissues and clean hand soap. We
politely ask that our partners do the same.
